‘Yadoo’ to vie at Iranian filmfest Zurich

Iranian award-winning film ‘Yadoo’ is to vie at the Iranian Film Festival in Zurich in Switzerland (IFFZ).

Mehdi Jafari’s latest directorial experience will be screened at the 2022 edition of the event.

A $2000 prize will be awarded to the best feature film of the festival.

The film tells the story of a family in the city of Abadan during the first days of the 1980-88 Iraq’s imposed war on Iran.

The family, a mother and three children, stay in the city while the other families in the neighborhood are leaving.

This is the story of how hard is it to leave a city one has lived there for an age.

The IFFZ aims to fill the cultural gap between Iranians and Swiss as well as the many foreigners living in Switzerland.

The event defines itself as “A Platform for presenting the Iranian culture and tradition and for building a bridge between different cultures by the means of the universal language of art and especially the 7th art, cinema”.
